En las anteriores ediciones del festival se han realizado los siguientes talleres. Éstos son el embrión de la futura Ecuela de Cine del Sahara.

 TALLER DE CINE DOCUMENTAL. Impartido por Noemí García responsable de la sección competitiva de DOCUMENTAMADRID y profesora titular del NIC.
Una aproximación a la historia del documental, a los orígenes del género, conceptos y definiciones, la recreación de la realidad, la puesta en escena documental, la búsqueda de un lenguaje cinematográfico propio, y a las distintas escuelas y directores que marcaron época.
TALLER DE SONIDO Impartido por José Nieto, compositor y profesor titular de la ECAM
Sus objetivos se centraron en el conocimiento por parte de los alumnos de los aspectos básicos del registro sonoro y aspectos específicos de la banda sonora para audiovisuales, tanto en lo técnico como en lo conceptual. Estará dividido en los tres apartados de la cadena sonora: toma directa, montaje y mezcla.
TALLER DE EDICIÓN Impartido por Martin Eller, montador de Invierno en Bagdad y Julio Sánchez Veiga, productor de INTERMEDIA y Daniel Fernández Urdiales.
Un acercamiento a la edición no-lineal: digitalización de imágenes, desglose y organización del material. Montaje, efectos de vídeo básicos, títulos. Sonorización, preparación de la mezcla de sonido. Creación de un DVD del montaje final.

TALLER DE CÁMARA Impartido por Jordi Abusada, director de fotografía- cámara Los lunes al Sol, La Espalda del Mundo , Laia Ramos doctorada en documentales por la UAB y por Fernando Fernández.
Los alumnos aprendieron el manejo de la cámara y el uso de luces y accesorios,  su funcionamiento y distintas técnicas de rodaje.

TALLER CINE PARA NIÑOS Impartido por la Asociación Cultural LA CLAQUETA.
La educación audiovisual en la infancia y la juventud supone un apoyo indispensable para alcanzar los objetivos que persigue el Festival,  el taller intentó plantar una semillita de libertad introduciendo el cine y el espíritu creativo en estos niños y  niñas que un día pueden ser futuros narradores de historias, narradores de la realidad de un pueblo que ha vivido durante generaciones en condiciones precarias y ha luchado con dignidad por su propio destino. Al final del taller los propios niños realizaron un corto escrito, dirigido y protagonizado por ellos que se proyectó en el Festival.

HISTORIAS DE ARENA Y PIEDRAS Taller de cine de animación impartido por La Claqueta

El objetivo de este taller es mostrar a las niñas y niños el cine como un elemento mágico. La intención es poder darles las herramientas para animar su propia realidad, los objetos que les rodean, su entorno e incluso a ellos/as mismos/as, rescatando esos elementos de su realidad y generar con ellos un universo mágico.
HISTORIAS MÍNIMAS Taller de cine de ficción impartido por La Claqueta

Un recorrido por las diferentes partes del proceso cinematográfico, proporcionando a los alumnos y alumnas las herramientas prácticas necesarias para realizar sus propias creaciones.
Aunque se llevará a cabo el rodaje de un cortometraje, creado y realizado por los alumnos saharauis,  desde el primer momento nos despreocuparemos por el resultado, lo más importante del taller es lo que cada uno “se lleve puesto”.

TALLER DE ANIMACIÓN PARA NIÑOS Impartido por Ángel de la Cruz, director de El bosque Animado y El sueño de una noche de San Juan.

¿Cómo se realiza una película de animación? El objetivo fundamental es producir un corto de animación (alrededor de 3 minutos) íntegramente realizado por los niños, que podría estrenarse públicamente en la clausura del Festival y, con posterioridad, como apoyo a la causa del pueblo saharaui, en: Televisión de Galicia, FORTA (y televisiones de todo el mundo).  Festivales Internacionales de Cine (especialmente de animación y de ámbito infantil y juvenil). Inclusión en el «Catálogo Curtas’06» (programa de promoción y difusión de cortometrajes de ficción y animación, mediante la concesión de ayudas a la promoción y divulgación para ámbito nacional e internacional, patrocinado con el Consorcio Audiovisual de Galicia).

A UN CORTO DE DISTANCIA taller itinerante impartido por Brother´s Film

Taller itinerante realizado bajo la tutoría de distintos profesionales que guían a los alumnos y alumnas saharauis en las distintas fases del desarrollo del proyecto audiovisual: escritura de guión, producción, sonido, iluminación, cámara y edición.

El resultado son distintas piezas audiovisuales moestradas en la clausura de FISAHARA.

TALLER REALIZACIÓN DOCUMENTAL impartido por Julio Veiga y Laia Ramos

Ofrece a sus participantes la oportunidad de acercarse y reflexionar sobre su entorno inmediato a partir de un medio de comunicación en el que, en el mejor de los casos, el pueblo saharaui sólo tiene acceso como receptor, casi nunca como creador.
Se trata de un proyecto basado en el acercamiento y la reflexión de los participantes en el taller sobre su propio entorno, sobre la situación que vive este pueblo del Sahara. A partir de este entorno, se incentivará que sus curiosidades puedan hacerse visibles y sus ideas plasmadas por medio de la cámara. El medio audiovisual será la vía que utilizarán para comunicar lo elaborado al resto del mundo.

      Para la mayoría de los ciudadanos del mundo desarrollado, la vida en un campo de refugiados resulta algo anecdótico o propio de una noticia de actualidad en el telediario. Pocos son realmente conscientes de lo que significa y son menos aun los que realmente se preguntan algo al respecto. ¿Que es un campo de refugiados, que es el desierto, donde esta, como se vive allí, que hace falta para sobrevivir, que se come o se bebe, como se sienten los que allí habitan, que problemas tienen, como ven el futuro, que deseos tienen?
Con el fin de indagar acerca de los refugiados y su entorno y dar respuesta a esas y otras preguntas, el presente proyecto plantea la utilización de la fotografía con el fin de promover la reflexión, la creatividad y la crítica.

El proyecto consiste en impartir, durante una semana, un taller de realización audiovisual para que las jóvenes participantes sean capaces de transformar una idea inicial en un proyecto audiovisual concreto.
El taller se realiza en coordinación con la programación de la Pantalla Gacela, en la que las participantes podían ver, analizar y trabajar sobre las películas seleccionadas por el colectivo D-clic.
De forma práctica, nos centramos en la elaboración y la planificación de un trabajo audiovisual, la idea del cual surge de las inquietudes y necesidades de las participantes. A partir de esta idea inicial, se trabajan los mecanismos para que este proyecto inicial tome forma y pueda realizarse.
Se preparan actividades y dinámicas grupales para lograr estos objetivos.

Proponemos la posibilidad de acercar la situación social y cultural de los saharauis a la audiencia española, por medio de la emisión en Radio 3 y en Radio 5 de RNE, de grabaciones hechas por los propios jóvenes saharauis. Son los refugiados los que en primera persona y por medio de la prácticas del taller describeron su situación en diferentes formatos radiofónicos.

Este taller permite a personas sin ninguna experiencia desarrollar un cortometraje en un tiempo record. En poco más de 15 horas los asistentes desarrollan un guión literario, uno técnico y planifican, producen y graban su propia obra de ficción.

In past editions of the festival, the following workshops were offered. They are the seeds for the future School of Sahara Cinema.

DOCUMENTARY FILM WORKSHOP, presented by Noemí García, curator for the competition section of DOMENTAMADRID, and official instructor for the NIC.

An approximation of the history of the documentary, the origins of the genre, concepts and definitions, the recreation of reality, mise en scene in the documentary, the search for the appropriate cinematic language, and the distinct schools and directors that marked the era.

SOUND WORKSHOP presented by José Nieto, composer and official instructor of ECAM.

The objectives centered on the knowledge of the students of the basic aspects of the sound register and the specific aspects of the soundtrack for audiovisuals, on the technical side as well as the conceptual. This is divided in three parts of the sound chain: direct recording, montage, and mixing.

EDITING WORKSHOP presented by Martin Eller, event organizer for Winter in Baghdad, and Julio Sánchez Veiga, producer of INTERMEDIA, and Daniel Fernández Urdiales.

Looking closely at nonlinear editing; digitalization of images, shot list and organization of material. Montage, basic video effects, titles. Tracking sound, preparation of sound mixing. Creation of a DVD of the final montage.

CAMERA WORKSHOP presented by Jordi Abusada, director of photography/camera for Los lunes al Sol, La Espalda del Mundo, Laia Ramos, Ph.D. in documentaries by the UAB, and Fernando Fernández.

The students learned how to handle the camera and the use of lights and accessories, their function, and distinct techniques of shooting.

CINEMA FOR CHILDREN WORKSHOP presented by the cultural association La Claqueta.

The audiovisual education of children and youth offers an invaluable support for reaching the objectives that dominate the Festival - the workshop strives to plant a seed of liberty, introducing the cinema and its creative spirit in the children, who one day can become future narrators of stories, expressing the reality of a people who have lived for generations in precarious conditions and have fought with dignity for their own destiny. At the end of the workshop, the children make a short script, directed and acted by them that is projected at the Festival.

STORIES OF SAND AND STONES – ANIMATION CINEMA WORKSHOP presented by the cultural association La Claqueta.

The objective of this workshop is to show the children cinema as a magic element. The intent is to give them the tools to animate their own reality, the objects that surround them, their environment and themselves, reclaiming these elements of their reality and creating a magic universe with them.

SHORT FILMS WORKSHOP presented by the cultural association La Claqueta.

An overview of the different parts of the cinematic process, giving to the students the practical tools necessary to bring to life their own creations. Although this focuses on the shooting of a short film, created and developed by the Sahrawi students, from the first moment, we will be concerned with the result, the most important thing of this workshop is that everyone gets what they put into it.

ANIMATION WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN presented by Ángel de la Cruz, director of El bosque Animado y El sueño de una noche de San Juan.

How do you make an animation film? The fundamental objective is to produce a short animation film (around 3 minutes) entirely created by the children, that can be shown publicly at the closing of the Festival and later, in support of the cause for the Sahrawi people, in Galicia Television, FORTA, and television channels all over the world; international film festivals (especially of animation and the sphere of children and youth); included in the Shorts Catalog of 2006 (program for promoting and distributing short films of fiction and animation, through the concession of support for the promotion and circulation within the national and international realm, sponsored by the Audiovisual Consortia of Galicia).

A SHORT FILM OF DISTANCE - ITINERANT WORKSHOP presented by Brother’s Film

Itinerant workshop under the direction of different professionals who guide the Sahrawi students in the distinct phases of development of an audiovisual project: scriptwriting, production, sound, lighting, camera, and editing. The outcome will be distinct audiovisual pieces shown at the closing of the Festival.

DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP presented by Julio Veiga and Laia Ramos

This workshop offers the participants the opportunity to get closer to and reflect over their immediate environment beginning with a medium of communication in which, in the best of cases, the Sahrawi people have had only access as receivers, rarely as creators.

This involves a project based on focusing and reflecting on their own environment, the situation in which the Sahrawi people live. Beginning with this environment, we help them see how to make their curiosities visible and how their ideas can be shaped by the medium of the camera. The audiovisual medium will be the avenue they utilize to communicate this expression to the rest of the world.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP “I’M A REFUGEE” – presented by Luis Arellano y Joaquín Calderón

For the majority of the citizens of the developed world, the life in a refugee camp results in an anecdote or as belonging to the daily television news.  Few are really aware of what it signifies and even fewer really question what it means. What is a refugee camp? What is the desert? Where is it? How do they live there? What do they need to survive? What do they eat and drink? How do the inhabitants feel? What problems do they have? How do they see the future? What are their hopes and dreams?

With the goal of investigating the reality of the refugees and their environment, and providing an answer to these and other questions, the project uses cinematography to promote reflection, creativity, and critique.

AUDIOVISUAL WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN presented by the collective D-Clic

The project consists of providing a workshop of audiovisual development for a week, in which the young participants are able to transform an initial idea into a concrete audiovisual project. This workshop is made possible through the coordination of the programming of the Gazelle Screen, where the participants can see, analyze, and work on the films selected by the collective D-Clic.

In practical methods, we concentrate on the elaboration and planning of the audiovisual work, the idea of which brings to the surface the anxieties and needs of the participants. Beginning with this initial idea, they perform the technical aspects so their initial project takes shape and can be produced. Activities and group dynamics are organized to achieve these objectives.

RADIO WORKSHOP presented by Ana Schulz, presenter for the program, “Musica es 3” in Radio 3 of Radio Nacional de España (RNE).

This workshop proposes to bring the social and cultural situation of the Sahrawi people to the Spanish public, through the broadcast of the program on Radio 3 and Radio 5 of RNE, with recordings made by the Sahrawi youth. The refugees are the ones who, in first person and through practical methods of the workshop, will describe their situation in different forms through radio broadcasting techniques.

DEVELOPMENT OF SHORT FILMS WORKSHOP presented by Oriol Blas and Sergio Fernández

This workshop allows people with no experience to develop a short film in record time. In a little over 15 hours the participants develop a literary script, technical skills and planning, and produce and record their own work of fiction.
